Sunday, 18 degrees, warm sun and not a cloud to be seen. After some more gentle urging from Bonnie I strolled off to view some more of Toronto. I caught the subway to downtown and walked my way to the Distillery District, a revived old town area with breweries, clothes shops and cafes. I took Bonnie’s advice and enjoyed lunch and a beer at Mill St. Brewery. Very nice beer and food.
After a friendly chat with the staff there I made my way off to Center Island, for which the ferry wasn’t running so I had to catch another ferry to a different part of the islands and walk 4kms or so to reach my intended destination. Bike hire was unfortunately closed until May, so I walked my way around the peaceful and quaint group of little islands. There were large crowds, I think everyone was taking the opportunity to get out in the sun, the ferry was packed on the way over and I almost had to miss out on the return ferry because of the crowds…but I battered my eyelashes and managed to get aboard.
I had a final beer with Abhi, such a helpful and cool bloke and then made my way back to Bonnie’s.
I caught the end of the Redwings game 3 at St.Louis, which we won, about bloody time, just need to win 3 more. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Paulina who works at St.Louis as well as a job with the government and studying to become a paralegal…talk about busy. Cheers for the tootsie rolls, they rock!
I had a great end to my stay in Toronto, my only regret was missing out on saying goodbye to Bonnie due to having to catch a bus at 5.20am. I am so fortunate to have had the chance to meet and stay with such a kind, strong spirited lady with a very down to earth demeanour. I will be back! As I am leaving Canada from Toronto in August, I plan to return for a week and scoot down to the Motown Museum in Detroit with her.
Cheers Toronto!
