My first full day in Windsor was spent looking for a phone plan. Unlike Australia, all the phone shops were fairly hard to find, after a good 10km walk I found a few shops. The cheapest provider wouldn’t support my phone, the next cheapest would be about $100 for local calls and 200mb of data…kind of ridiculous. So thinking that the rest of my trip I’d have to rely on WiFi I walked back into downtown Windsor and found some dinner, $10 for a beer and hummus platter, score!
I met up with Maria and we went to get some groceries and try one more phone shop at the supermarket. The guy said without a Canadian citizenship/ID I had no chance of finding a cheap plan without doing something dodge. Maria the comes to the rescue and offers to open an account for me with her ID. So amazing and very generous. So I have a phone number and plan now, a nice value for money one too thanks to Maria. No more bouncing between WiFi hotspots.
Oh and it was cold and rainy…
