I was very sad to leave Maria, Ilia and Sophie. It was such a short stay with them but I am so thankful for the hospitality. Whether it was the food, the conversation, learning about Maria’s travels and family, hanging out with the rascals or just enjoying good tea, I cherish my time in Windsor.
It does look like I just got out of bed!
I cause a greyhound bus to Toronto, thenjourney was about 5 hours in total with a stopover in London. It was on the bus ride when I noticed that my time in Toronto was going to be colder than expected. Fresh snow was everywhere from London to Toronto. As beautiful as it was, I wasn’t expecting the cold snap as I got off the bus in downtown Toronto.
I had organised (with the help of Maria) a couchsurfing host in downtown Toronto, a very fine gentleman by the name of Abhi. I met him and his lovely friend Katie at a cool Italian place not far from his apartment. Really nice rigatoni. We dropped my gear off at his cosy place and then went off to a climbing gym. Abhi being a pretty proficient climber was very kind to show me the ropes and offered decent advice to help enjoy a good climbing session. We finished up about 11pm and stepped out into minus 5 degree weather looking for some beer and food. I was surprised that we found a place open on a Monday night, and better still serving food, even better still some live music. So there we were, my first night in snowy Toronto, in a cool little bar having beer and nachos at midnight.
Today after a decent sleep in I went out to explore the city. Just a long cold walk figuring out places to see and visit. Tomorrow I think I’ll start with the Hockey World of Fame! Oh yeah!
…you can’t see…but of course I am wearing shorts in subzero temperatures…
