Well my time in Radium is up. I am very sad to be leaving, I felt so comfortable with the little life I had set up here. On the plus side I will have more to blog about now so my posts will be more frequent again.
I have had a few adventures since Yoho, I will throw up a few photos with descriptions.
The Big Horned Sheep
Big horned sheep hanging out at the Radium intersection. Motorists love to disrupt traffic by pulling over in droves to take photos.
One morning on my way to the clothesline I was greeted by these big fellas.
Hanging out behind the motel watching me hang sheets.
They they like to cause traffic jams, slowly making their way up the highway.
And on a stumble home from the pub, it is possible to trip over the herd.
Photos from my clothesline.
Friendly dragonfly hanging out.
Sneaky chipmunk.
Grasshopper.
No idea what this guy is but he’ll give you quite a startle when he flies into your face.
Johnston Canyon and the Ink pots
Got to spend a day out at Johnston Canyon, very busy with tourists. On the plus side, you have to hike if you want to reach the Inkpots so it was much less crowded there.
Very cool walkway that take you along the canyon.
More crystal clear Glacier water.
I went through a tight natural tunnel through a cliff to get this awesome shot of the lower waterfall.
Even with the hundreds of tourists, I still love seeing this.
The upper falls, haven’t broken a sweat yet and people were complaining that it was to far to walk. 3 km to the Inkpots.
Not sure the photos quite captures it but this blue pool was like looking through coloured glass. Extremely clear.
Cool green pot, you can see the fissure in the middle.
This fissure created a swirling piece of natural art. Constantly changing patterns crated by the slow flow from the fissure.
An explanation of the Inkpots. Well worth the short stroll.
Top of the upper falls.
Natural land bridge near Field.
On my way to Field, there is Castle Mountain…no snow this time.
The natural land bridge. Kayaking is not recommended…but according to Art at the pub, he has done it 3 times.
Evo’s 1st Birthday party.
Karin, Zeno and little Evo, who seems interested in the wall.
He is one cool little dude.
And I always got smiles.
Invermere Rodeo
Mexican poker…4 bull fighters play poker, the last remaining seated wins. There was a winner…not sure how as the bull demolished the entire table and chairs.
Crazy people.
I think the bulls won.
Natural hot springs.
Love making these.
From a steaming spring to a freezing river. Still smiling.
Sulphur spring. It didn’t smell the freshest but it felt awesome.
It got a little crowded.
There we go, just a few photos from my time here in Radium, I am going to miss it. Tomorrow I am hitchhiking to Golden where I will catch a bus onward to Revelstoke. I will hang around in Revelstoke for a couple of days and then bus to Vancouver!
My eternal thanks to Karin, Angelika, Irma, Ivo, Andre, Zeno and Evo. I hope we cross paths again soon.
