The day started with a trip to The Bloomsbury to meet up with Jake. It’s a very welcoming and classy hotel—quite upmarket by all accounts. We then returned to a café we’d visited a couple of days earlier called My Place Soho, for a solid flat white and a proper English breakfast.
Afterwards, we took a short stroll toward the British Museum with the intent of going inside. However, the queues were very long and online booking only had slots available in the late afternoon. Instead, we wandered a bit further to the Charles Dickens Museum, set in one of his former residences. It was fascinating to see and read about life in those times, discover what inspired his writing, and actually stand in the same house as the great writer himself.
We had lunch at a nearby pub called The Lady Ottoline. Jake then headed off to take it easy before the race, while I took myself on an impromptu pub crawl. I made stops at The Black Horse, The Newman Arms, The Flying Horse, and The Three Greyhounds.
Jake and I regrouped for a carby dinner at Lina Stores before calling it an early night.
