Very sad to leave Deedee this morning, I had such a wonderful time staying with her and I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet her friends and family. I hoisted my backpack into my hire car and drove back to Detroit airport to drop it off. I mentioned to the lady at the rental counter that the GPS wasn’t updated with current locations and she deducted the hire from my bill, WOO! $US60 back in my pocket.
A quick shuttle to the bus terminal and I caught the 125 bus back to downtown Detroit. It was a great way to see some more of the city, an hour journey and the driver let me ride for free because there wasn’t a way for me to break a $20. Kudos to that guy!
Once I made it into downtown bus terminal I almost accidentally walked into the bus that would take me to Windsor, Canada. Which was fortunate. It was the fastest and cheapest fare I have ever had between countries.
I arrived at downtown Windsor and my next couch surfing host Maria came and picked me up. I got to see Detroit from the other side of the river before we went back to her house. I got to meet her partner Herb and her two kids, Ilia and Sophie. They have a very nice home and graciously let me have a room and bed. After a nice dinner I went along with Maria to chorus practice, where she is apart of a group of twenty ladies preparing for a big performance in 2 weeks. It was interesting being on the spectator side of a rehearsal but it was good fun.
Tomorrow, breakfast, downtown, find mobile phone plan, coffee & wifi and some future travel research.
A big shout out to Deedee and Colleen, come to Australia!
