(Been busy exploring—sorry for the late entries)
We left Lagos reasonably early to return the car to Faro Airport on time. We stopped briefly in Albufeira for brunch, then continued on to drop off the car. The return went smoothly, and we caught an Uber to our accommodation. It was a nice hostel-style place—Jake and I had a room each, and it was very close to the main centre.
We checked out an old church that had a chapel of bones, which was kind of creepy… not the first chapel of bones I’ve been to, and it’s not something you really get used to.
We hit up a nice bar overlooking the marshlands and the airport beyond. We relaxed with a few beers while watching the planes land. For dinner, we decided on a nice tapas place. Unfortunately, we arrived on the one night there was no local Fado music playing. Seems we spent a whole week in Portugal without managing to catch any Fado. Shame.
The next day we checked out, had a great brunch and a final pastel de nata at a nice café, then caught a bus to Seville!
The bus ride was uneventful, driving through span after span of vast olive fields. We arrived at Plaza de Armas bus station, then caught an Uber to our accommodation—which was glorious. It was the top floor of an old cylindrical building, with a spiral staircase up to the loft and a balcony overlooking the street. We even heard a professional violinist practising in the mornings on the floor below us. By far the best accommodation to date.
We headed out for dinner at a nice tapas joint, had a small wander, then turned in.
Jake’s organised a bike tour for tomorrow—looking forward to it!
(Next entry will be the entirety of our stay in Seville)
