Dinner and a show.

Trying to find time to sort the blog out is tricky—still a bit jetlagged and totally knackered by the end of the day.

Yesterday was a special one, though—I got to catch up with my cousin Meg! Conveniently, she works just a couple of blocks away and managed to carve out some time for lunch.
While there’s no shortage of eating options in the area, we decided on Mr. Fogg’s Botanical Tavern. It’s a stunning little pub styled after Phileas Fogg from Around the World in 80 Days. Very floral, very cosy, they even have the audiobook playing in the lavatories.
It was only a brief catch-up, however no less amazing to be with family you haven’t seen in 15 odd years. We had a wonderful chat, a great feed, and then before you knew it, the lunch break was over. As I escorted her back to the office we discussed some plans for the coming months, when I’ll return to visit more family outside of London.

The afternoon’s activity was Jake’s pick—matinee tickets to Back to the Future: The Musical. Neither of us knew quite what to expect, so we kept expectations low.
Very pleasantly surprised—we had an absolute blast. The performance was fantastic, the stage design seriously impressive, and we left feeling totally buzzed.

Turned out to be a bit of a family day all round. After the show, we met up with Jake’s cousin Tom. I’d mentioned my lunch with Meg at Mr. Fogg’s , and both he and Jake were curious, so we swung by again for a look, and a few beers, before heading to Greek Street for dinner at a really lovely Italian place called Lina Stores.

Full, happy, and completely shattered, we finally made our way back to the apartment and crashed.

Tomorrow’s an early one—off to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Hyde Park Corner.
